The DEF Digital Academy is India’s first Digital Academy for the Grassroots. It is constituted as a barefoot digital training institute bottom up set up by Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) as the exclusive wing of DEF in terms of inclusive, and functional digital skills and trainings for sustainable social and economic development of individuals, groups and communities and strengthening frontline citizen and public services agencies.
The Academy’s focus is making sure that existing and potential training and skills community and organisations have a coherent learning and development programme to:
- Develop and grow practical and functional digital skills and capacities to meet the needs, demands and supply of digital society and economy;
- Develop and increase capability to build and deliver effective information and digital services.
- Transform how rural, grassroots, organisations and local agencies can deliver services that meet users’ needs.
- Create an effective cadre of grassroots, digitally capable professionals so they can fill key roles in projects, programmes and frontline services.
